This workshop is designed to empower both individual developers and teams to create amazing enterprise-quality backends for mobile and web applications. You will learn how to use the app created with Code On Time to provide the backend for a generic device with the limited input capabilities. The built-in Device Authorization Flow makes it possible to integrate your apps into the physical world of IoT and make them future-proof.

OAuth 2.0 Configuration in Postman

Postman in the popular API development tool. RESTful Workshop recommends this tool when exploring the RESTful API Engine. The engine is an integral part of applications created with Code On Time. It supports authentication with API Key and OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flows. It relies on access tokens to identify the users when client apps are making requests to the RESTful API.

Postman makes it easy to acquire an access token with OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow with PKCE.

Postman exchanges the authorization code for an access token with the backend application. The response is presented in the Manage Access Tokens window.

Lesson: CRUD with Hypermedia

Typical CRUD operations are performed on REST resources with POST, GET, PATCH, PUT, and DELETE methods of HTTP protocol. RESTful API Engine embeds the uniform hypermedia controls create, edit, replace, and delete in the relevant resources to eliminate the guesswork and scrutinizing of API definitions. Single page app SPA4 with RESTful Hypermedia and CRUD has the "New" button in the toolbar. The "New Product" form is displayed when the button is pressed. A click on any row in the product grid will open the "Edit Product" form allowing users to change or delete the product.

"New Product" form will post the field values to the product collection to create a new product in the inventory.

Users can make changes to the product or delete it from the list.

A confirmation is displayed when users press the Delete button in "Edit Product" form.
